A White River “peace” of art

Here’s a short impulse for today:

Which word expresses a peaceful connection for you?

In a way that you can feel it?

Maybe it’s a need, a feeling or a strategy. Maybe it’s the name of a creature or place.

If you feel it, I hope you can take a moment and dive into,

Bathe in it😘🤗🕊️.

….

If you want to share the word and this energy, you can become part of my installation: The white river – a Peace of Art.

It’s quite simple, because you already have the word 😉.

🕊️

You are of course very welcome to share this and doing so creating a

Connection!

With YOU!

I made the beginning and it turns out that blue ball pens on white cotton work well. 👍🏻😃

So what are these scraps of fabric?

This piece of cloth is an invitation to become part of a new piece of art of mine for International Women’s Day 2026. Want to say: you can support me in this🫶

I will sew a hopefully endless or at least very long scarf out of white pieces of fabric and I’m sure each of you has a white cotton remnant from a tablecloth, sheet, shirt, handkerchief, an old blouse or similar scarf. Cut out a rectangle in a place that is not worn. White is traditionally a sign of peace as a wish, as an offer or as a demand.

With this object I would like to point out initiatives such as “Women in white” (https://womeninwhite.net/). But I also want to transport courage, create an opportunity to meet, move, touch and be touched. To get into conversation.
I think that this peace-art project for you, for us, can be a way to get back into conversation with people, about peace, about art, about feeling, about being alive!

A white river, rivers connect. They eventually appear and get bigger and bigger. They move, transport, pick up information in various forms (energetic, material, as part of history and stories, our tears) and are part of an endless cycle.

I wish to get the opportunity to present this room-filling object, but above all the opportunity to start a conversation, touch and move.

The opportunity to create something together again would be wonderful and motivates me. So I want to continue sewing during the exhibition and thus make the river visibly grow more and further.

Yes, and where are you coming back into play now? Language is an important and powerful means that often separates us. At the same time, it has so much potential to connect us.

Therefore:

Is there a word that expresses connection to you like no other or a gesture? Or possibly it’s the name of a place where you feel particularly connected, a person, …

For me it often is a word in a foreign language. I hear or read it and it touches me. Perhaps because it basically means the same thing and yet conveys other information and memories than the same word in my native language. That’s how I feel with the word “with”, which belongs to the basic vocabulary in every language. I used it as an example for my first rectangle.

Write down your word or draw!

As I said ball pen (blue would be perfect) goes well on your white piece of fabric. Then send me this one and I’ll connect it with the others.

You don’t want or can’t write anything on fabric?

Send me your term or tell me what touches you and I’ll add it.

You may also come to my exhibition in 2026 and we are in the flow together here: (Yippie!) on Sunday, March 8th Kultur.Gut.Winkhausen at 3pm, teatime :-), cake, coffee, talk and live music by a.mie.

You may be wondering, “International Women’s Day? Women in white? Is that just something for women?” I don’t see it that way.

Similar to 2024, I want to make something connecting and invite everyone. Nevertheless, there are one or better many reasons why this topic is on the subject for me right now and on International Women’s Day.

I cordially invite you to come in March, to share your thoughts with me and to let the white river grow there as well.

Frequently asked questions:

How does my white piece get to you?

There are different possibilities: – You send it to me. – Maybe collection points will also develop. Do you want to be one? – Or you send me a photo and I write it down on a corresponding piece of fabric. – I also like to just take the word.

In addition I would be happy to take your thoughts on this word. I collect stories and thoughts. These enrich my art and my work. In excerpts I also like to share these touching thoughts, of course anonymised.
